After weather delayed the opening of Reds Meadow last weekend, schedules have been rearranged and it looks like the new opening date is this Saturday, June 13.
According to the Town of Mammoth Lakes' Community Relations Manager, Stuart Brown, the occasion will be kicked off with a ribbon cutting at the Village at Mammoth.
"To celebrate the commencement of ESTA [Eastern Sierra Transit Authority] bus service to Reds Meadow and Devils Postpile, the Tourism and Recreation Department is staging a small Ribbon Cutting on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at The Village at Mammoth," Brown stated in a press release.
Representatives from Mono County, the United States Forest Service, National Parks Service, ESTA and the Town of Mammoth Lakes are celebrating this multi-agency collaboration and hopefully long-term partnership.
The short ceremony and speeches will begin around 9:30 a.m. in the small parking lot adjacent to Stop 4M on the east side of Minaret Road and culminate with the ribbon cutting and departure of the bus to the Main Lodge Adventure Center/Reds Meadow at 10:05 a.m.
According to the Town's website http://www.visitmammoth.com/local-transportation/, visitors to Reds Meadow will have the option of leaving from Stop 4M at the Village or from Mammoth Mountain's Main Lodge Adventure Center depending on the time of day.
Fees for the shuttle remain the same in 2009 at $7.00 for adults and $4.00 for children. Visit the link above or http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/inyo/recreation/redsmeadow.shtml for more information.
