Devils Postpile National Monument opens June 5. Entrance to the monument is free until June 13 when a mandatory shuttle begins running. The National Park Service is currently working on a General Management Plan (GMP) for the Monument, which will celebrate its 100th birthday in 2011.

Deanna Dulen, the Monument's Superintendent told the public that the plan will help to formulate the future of the park. It will take into account what the members of the public see in the parks future. The public scoping process begins in June and is expected to run through September. Dulen hopes the Parks Service will have a draft of the document by the Monument's centennial celebration. The entire process is expected to take five years.
