It seems that Mother Nature didn't think Mammoth needed much of a fall this year, and has already started putting on her winter coat. Residents woke this morning to the first thin blanket of snow on the ground, and thoughts have turned to powder days on the horizon.
While it's not ski-worthy just yet, and probably won't stick to the ground for very long, if this trend continues there should be plenty of white stuff available for Mammoth Mountain's projected opening day of Nov. 12.
