Mammoth Mountain Ski Area announced today that due to the extremely cold temperatures over the past several days they have been able to make a large amount of snow through snow-making equipment and will re-open on Saturday, Nov. 7.
According to PR Manager Dan Hansen, "The recent unbelievably cold temperatures allowed for a tremendous amount of snow-making in the last 48 hours. This, combined with the natural snow on the upper mountain, will allow fantastic top-to-bottom conditions next week (roughly a week before our previously scheduled opening). Over the next couple of days, we will continue to make snow, as temperatures permit, and will be pushing and grooming the snow in preparation for a great opening on Saturday.
"Weather permitting we will plan to operate 3 lifts (Broadway Express, Facelift and the Upper Panorama Gondola) with access to 8-10 trails beginning Nov. 7."
The re-opening will come three weeks after Mammoth's first attempt at opening on Oct. 16. After only three days of operation the ski area was forced to close again because of rising temperatures and a lack of snow covering the runs.
This weekend Mammoth Mountain hosts a Halloween party at Eagle Lodge for ghouls over 21. With no cover charge, a huge raffle, a DJ and dancing, it's sure to be a good time. Doors open at 9 p.m. and the party will rock all the way through 1 a.m.
