The next few days are expected to bring in heavy rain and high winds to the Eastern Sierra. Snow is expected above 10,000 feet. This storm follows on the heels of the first dusting of the season that blew through town a little over one week ago and brought several inches of snow.

According to local news station, Sierra Wave, the type of fast paced storm that is expected over the next two days is unusual this time of year. A storm with this much moisture is not typical for early October and might remind many locals of the rainy June that kicked off, and seemed to shorten, summer. As the sun went down today temperatures were already dropping and the sky was clouding over.

More moisture is expected early next week sparking rumors that Mammoth Mountain Ski Area will open before their projected Nov. 12 date. As of now, MMSA's website is still advertising the Nov. 12 weekend as their opening extravaganza http://www.mammothmountain.com/ResortActivities/SpecialEvents/OpeningDay/
