When you think of the American Pharmacist Association a lot of things may come to mind. None of which would include a fantastic event space with one of the best views in DC. Well, that’s about to change. Occasions Caterers knew exactly what they were doing when they hosted their Urban Market Tasting and Fall Menu Preview on the rooftop of the American Pharmacists Association building earlier this month. The only privately held building facing the National Mall, the association's headquarters is situated across from the Lincoln Memorial. Built in 1934, the classically designed building is hardly a new structure. However, the building just recently opened its door to outside events. After undergoing a major renovation including the addition of a stunning rooftop deck (available for events in 2010) and featuring meeting space, a marble adorned atrium, and an art gallery, the building is destined to be one of the hottest “new” venues in DC.
As the exclusive caterers for the building, it was the perfect setting for Occasions to preview their fall menu. The first event to take place on the rooftop, the Urban Market themed tasting included local ingredients provided by FRESHFARM Markets. Guests were free to roam throughout the space sampling a variety of chef prepared dishes including fresh cut rare salmon, Bison Tartare, shrimp and grits, and a Mote Christo Sandwiche with a fig sauce that will absolutely blow your mind! Guests included top local planners happy to test drive the food they’ll soon be serving at fall events all over DC. If the evening’s selection is any indication, there will soon be many very happy party goers throughout our nation’s capitol.
