Co Co. Sala's award winning leadership team

The owners of Co Co. Sala, Bharet Malhotra and Nisha Sidhu have had quite a year. Since opening in mid-2008, Co Co. Sala’s lush décor, tantalizing menu, fabulous staff, and phenomenal cocktails have secured its position as one of the best venues in DC.Their 2009 RAMMY award win for the Hottest Restaurant Bar Scene came as no surprise to those who have had the chance to experience this swanky local in full swing.

So, how do you celebrate a stellar first year? You whip up some chocolate inspired delicacies, uncork a couple dozen bottles of wine, and invite your friends over for a super decadent cocktail party, of course. While Co Co. Sala certainly has its share of high profile visitors, this event wasn't about drawing a crowd of Washington's "Who's Who”. Last night’s gathering was a celebration of the customers and clients' whose support and patronage helped solidify the establishment’s success and recent RAMMY win. The middle lounge area was full of Co Co. regulars, event planners, clients, and partners.

Yelp.com reviewer Jennifer Cohen and her fiancé George sipped wine and sampled an all new selection of savory and sweet bites alongside avid Co Co. Sala fans and customers. Jennifer was personally invited to the event after co-owner Bharet Malhotra came across her less than flattering write-up amongst over 140 reviews of Co Co. Sala on Yelp.com. Bharet apparently saw Jennifer’s review on Yelp and seized the opportunity to make things right. When asked if she’d be writing an updated, positive review, she immediately said, “Yes.”

It may seem somewhat strange that a restaurant owner would be personally scanning online reviews and replying to unhappy guests. But, as Bharet thanked the crowd for their support, he admitted to reading each and every email that comes in through the website. Once you meet him and his colleagues you instantly get it. They genuinely want you to love this place. Regardless of who you are, they want you to leave Co Co. Sala already making plans to return. I, for one, will be back for more.
