Gibson 46pc set only $59.99 at Macy's

With a disappointing showing for the holidays, many stores are having some pretty amazing sales. I’ve been out and about the last few days and I was blown away by some of the discounts. For all you hostesses and entertaining divas now is the time to stock up on seasonal items as well as year-round necessities.

Linen: Holiday patterns are on sale but I would focus on deep burgundies, greens, metallics, and other solids. These are also on sale as seasonal products but, because of the lack of in your face holiday patterns, they can certainly be used well into spring and pulled out again come fall.

Dinnerware: I saw lots of boxed sets on sale at Target this weekend. I’m not talking frosty the snowman patterned ones either. Many basic table settings like cream with a gold edge or solid browns and blacks are hitting the clearance racks along with silverware. These can be used to supplement your existing tableware when entertaining for larger groups.  There were also lots of chargers in matte and metallic finishes that could truly be used year round.  Don’t forget large serving dishes and disposables.

Candles and Candle Holders: Pack away gingerbreads, peppermints, and other scents that scream Christmas. Scents like vanilla and apple can keep your home smelling great for months to come.

3pc Baby Phat set only $14.99 at Kmart

Gift sets: Any good hostess knows the value of stocking up on bath sets, perfumes, and non-perishable (or long shelf life) gourmet food. Start building a go-to stash of gifts. These great little sets can also be used as a special surprise for overnight guests. Stop by places like Rite-Aid, CVS, and Wal-Mart for major discounts.
