World's Sexiest App? That's how Sports Illustrated and iTunes are marketing the new SI Swimsuit 2009 app for the iPhone today. The app carries iTunes' strongest rating, 17+, with the message that it contains Frequent/Intense Mature/Suggestive Themes and Frequent/Intense Sexual Content or Nudity.
The app features pictures and videos of Anne V, Ariel MEredith, Bar Rafaeli, Brooklyn Decker, Cintia Dicker, Damaris Lewis, Danica Patrick, Daniella Sarahyba, Esti Ginzburg, Irina Shayk, Jarah Mariano, Jessica Gomes, Jessica Hart, Jessica White, Julie Henderson, Kim Cloutier, Lucia Dvorska, Melissa Haro, and Tori Praver, with bodypainting videos and other features, plus a customizable sports calendar.
The app costs $2.99 – kind of a lot for an iPhones app – but is expected to be a big seller all the same. Apple's iTunes has been very tentative about bringing apps featuring adult content to its App Store; the SI Swimsuit 2009 app includes some images of completely naked models wearing only body paint. A previous app featuring nudity was approved last month, then pulled the same day.
App developers and adult industry insiders will be watching closely, all hoping to pounce on the lucrative new content market as new opportunities make themselves available. I've previously reported on similarly sexy iPhone apps including the AMG Brasil Boys app and the Suicide Girls' Flip-Strip app
