People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals kicks of its 8th annual Sexiest Vegetarian Alive contest this week, with voting up now at www.peta.org

There are 100 nominees for the female category and 101 for the male, with a write-in option for each.

Previous winners have included singer Leona Lewis and Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis (2008), The Tonight Show's Kevin Eubanks and singer Carrie Underwood (2007), actress Kristen Bell and the artist formerly known and now known again as Prince (2006), American Idol champ Carrie Underwood – yep, she's taken it twice – and Coldplay frontman slash Gwyneth Paltrow hubby slash Apple's daddy (2005), model and presidential niece Lauren Bush and actor Josh Hartnett (2003), Spiderman and Queen Amidala, aka Tobey Maguire and Natalie Portman (2002), and the original Sexiest Vegetarian Alive, singer Shania Twain (2001).

Who is the Sexiest Vegetarian Alive, circa 2009?

Can I vote for the tattoed beauty on the cover of PETA's new Vegan College Cookbook?
