At the moment your child is acting out, it’s hard to think that other parents have been through exactly the same thing. You feel you are in it alone.
However, it’s a rarity when a kid thinks of a new way to misbehave. No matter how creative your little sweetie is, it’s most likely that he hasn’t invented a new way to drive you up the wall.
That brings small comfort when you are the one suffering at the grocery store because your little princess is screaming for something you either can’t afford, or something you know isn’t good for her.
Or Junior decides he wants to dive off the top of the cupboard onto the dining room table, which just happens to be full of your Thanksgiving dinner. Believe me—it’s been done before.
Although you’re in the middle of the crisis at that moment, and you have to figure out how to deal with it, knowing other parents have survived similar situations can help you keep your cool.
Many years later, some of us are even laughing about these escapades.
I’d love to hear from you—tell us something your kid did that drove you crazy at the time, but you can laugh about now. I promise to do the same in a few days.
