Or is the old you good enough? I have a fairly good self concept and tend to like most things about myself, but there’s always something to change. In my case, there are a lot of things.
The question is—is the new year the time to do it? Does making New Year’s resolutions make it easier for you to make changes or more difficult?
I’m trying to remember if I’ve ever made a New Year’s resolution that I’ve kept.
This year I’m wondering if I should join Oprah (remember she’s my new best friend) in getting healthy starting January 5th. (Yes, I know I should start today, but I’m not going to.) I’m not home when Oprah is on, but I could record it easily on the DVR.
Or maybe I should stick with my do-it-yourself plan. One of my dear friends lost weight and became healthy by simply writing everything down that she ate. Every single thing. She said it’s amazing what you discover.
What about you? When you want to make changes is the new year the best time to start? Is it just a habit to start on 1/1?
When you make a decision to start a new habit or quit an old one do you begin whenever, or does the new year have some “magic” or good karma attached to it?
I haven’t quite decided what I’m going to do yet, or when, but I know it’s going to be soon. Should it be January 1—that’s the question.
Let me know what you’re going to do, if anything, about a New Year’s resolution. Is there going to be a new you this new year? The conversation continues with you.
