If you find yourself with some free time this week, you may want to check out the Wings of Freedom Air Museum in Horsham, Pa.
The museum was built from scratch in 2000 and has a nice collection of military planes from different periods. More than 40 display cases showcase different areas in aviation. There are more than 200 model airplanes, several full-sized planes and a few different cockpits kids (and adults) can try out.
Make sure to click below and check out pictures of the different aircraft.
For kids who are enthralled with planes and flying, this place can easily keep them busy for an hour or two. Even kids who are not very interested before may likely become interested during their visit.
The museum has tours of the outdoor planes when the outdoor grounds are open. They are sometimes closed because they are too muddy, so it doesn't hurt to call ahead to check.
The museum is free but donations are accepted to help with the upkeep of the museum. It is staffed by volunteers, many who are military veterans. Make sure to talk with them because they are full of knowledge and help visitors get the most out of their visit.
The museum is open Wednesday - Friday, 10:30 to 3 and Saturday and Sunday 10:30 to 4 weekly. They will be closed Saturday due to the Fourth of July holiday.
The museum phone number is 215-672-2277 and the address for GPS and online navigation is 1155 Easton Road, Horsham, Pa . Find out more information on their Web site.
