The National Park Service announced three weekends where entrance fees to national parks across the country will be waived in an effort to stimulate the economy.
“National Parks also serve as powerful economic engines for local communities and we hope that promoting visitation will give a small shot in the arm to businesses in the area,” Secretary of the Interior, Ken Salazar said.
The dates for fee free admission are:
According to the press release, the entrance fees being waived range from $3 to $25 at 147 sites across the country. An additional 244 national parks never charge an admission fee. The fees for camping, reservations, tours and concessions will not be waived.
Additionally, many of the vendors, restaurants and hotels will offer discounts on those dates. A list of participating outlets can be found here.
