The secret bar fad in New York City is still alive and well. When you first walk by the nondescript door at 404 Six Avenue you might wonder where those stairs lead? Well my friend wonder no more... You have just found the front entrance of a new Mexican speakeasy-themed bar Su Casa.
With it's extensive tequila collection and South-of-the-border themed drinks, like the El Diablo: a mix of real Habanero peppers, hot sauce, fresh lime juice and El Jimador Anejo tequila, Su Casa is a great place to start or end your evening. Although, you do have to sign a waver when you order the El Diablo because it will melt your shoes through the floor.
Food is provided by the Mexican restaurant located downstairs Qdoba. Try the nachos or tortilla soup with some of the signature tequila that Su Casa slings and get into the vibe from the rustic/tiki meets Mexicali decor. If you can grab a seat by the large windows, you can take in some great people-watching from the large picture windows. An unexpected treat is the bathroom (that's right, one bathroom for everyone), where you will find gossip rags plastered to the walls and Spanish music piped in, nice and loud.
Some of the tequilas you will find on the back wall are: El Jimador Anejo tequila, Herradura Anejo, Reposado tequila and Anejo tequila. If you are in a real adventurous mood try the "Bartenders Choice" and let them create the perfect cocktail just for you.
