Princess Dixon may see her Kingdom crumble with the conviction of those closest to her.
Money and politics are often equated as the fuel and engine of American democracy, but thanks to the Judas (Lipscomb), the Jackal (Holton) and the Breadmaker (Paterakis), Baltimore’s Princess Mayor Sheila Dixon may be regretting her decision to ever take part in this epic political fairytale.
While the latest conviction of H&S Bakery czar John Paterakis Sr. has taken some aback, others are merely questioning what more and who else shall come to light regarding this tangled web of deceit. Along with the convicted former beau of Mayor Dixon’s, Ronald Lipscomb, Mr. Paterakis has decided to cooperate with authorities, in providing what is assuredly vital information, to the prosecution and their case, against Mayor Dixon and her colleague Councilwoman Helen Holton.
Yet as most have almost no sympathy for any of those involved, one must only wonder what happened to the fairytale princess of Charm City, who for all intents and purposes seemed to have captured the hearts of a city supportive of their own. Yet now with multiple charges pending and a conviction of some kind looming, based on all the added testimony of those telling (a.k.a. Snitching), many question the type of company kept by this hardworking family woman, known to most as simply, Sheila?
The former teacher, councilwoman and council president seemed likely a candidate to lead this City as any other, even before the ascension of Martin O’Malley to the Governor’s mansion. Yet being pulled into the trap of desiring more for others than for herself, she laid back graciously in support of a Pharisees that in the end could be the possible demise of her political career. Offering her services to many with the sincere promise of friendship, the Princess was deceived into thinking that what she had put out would often times be brought back with fair deeds. Yet she may have underestimated the general axiom, which never or rarely errs, that she who is the cause of another’s greatness, is herself undone!
While this is, in no way, an attempt to justify or rationalize what has been done on behalf of the Dixon administration, it is to say that having a personal knowledge of the players in question, and looking beyond the hype of an agenda-driven media, I can only take homage in the fact that with time passed, all good things find their way back home!
My humble advice: Utilize the example of Hiero the Syracusan, who after rising up from mere humble beginnings such as yourself, was made King (Prince of Syracuse), for the People having suffered under miserable conditions of long rule, seeing in him more than just a servant but a leader. Doing away with the old and organizing anew, he abandoned existing alliances and assumed new allies in which he was able to build a foundation of his own, having trouble assembling and acquiring, yet preserving what he had built with ease!
Get rid of past administrations baggage, start anew and put a Dixon stamp on it!
‘Those who become Princesses by mere good fortune, do so with little trouble, but have much trouble maintaining themselves. They meet with no hindrance on their way, being carried as it were on wings to their destination, but all their difficulties overtake them when they alight. Such Princesses are wholly dependent on the favor and fortunes of those who have made them great yet they lack both the knowledge and the power that would enable them to maintain their position.’
