Will the NEW Good Ole Party use the campaign tactics of OLD?
Memorial Day begins the season of summer break, swimming pool openings and the political attacks of those seeking communicative crucifixions like political panderers. Yet while this year proves not to be an election year, many special interest organizations, groups and possible candidates, are seeking now to set the tone, for what is sure to be a down and out, no holds barred, season of campaigning in 2010.
As many candidates of the past have sought out the “campaign strategists of evil”, people such as Karl Rove and others who are known to win at any cost, will the politics of today be different in its approach, or more of the same? Well according to a new video released from the RNC, (NRCC not RNC), attacking former Maryland resident and current Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, along with freshman Congressman Frank Kratovil, the politics of the past seems to work just well?!
In this new attack ad, the Republican National Committee,(NRCC) which is now headed by another former Maryland resident and state Lt. Governor, Michael Steele, have tried to link the recent lying about torture methods between Speaker Pelosi and the CIA, with the recently first district congressman. While Kratovil won his race by a slim margin, edging out republican challenger state Senator Andy Harris (R-7), in a more conservative leaning district, the Party sees this seat as a definite winnable seat, one needed to try and even out a more lopsided Democratic stronghold in Congress.
However as many are seeking to possibly see a rematch in 2010, people such as myself, who has interviewed and spoke in-depth with GOP members and insiders, have become more incumbent on Eastern Shore Senator E.J. Pipkin (R-36) taking on Kratovil in November of next year, as Harris has had his chance and also would be giving up an almost certain re-election bid for his Senate seat, for a virtual unknown, with children to tend to and a family to feed. Unlikely?! However let those Baltimore Sun “insiders” tell it, and he [Harris] has already announced his intentions and all others have backed away!
However below is the video in question, see what you think:
Editors Note: I must apologize and retract my previous statements that this ad was released by the RNC, led by Chairman Michael Steele; I was recently corrected by NRCC Communications Director Paul Lindsay, who informed me of the ad being released by the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), led by Congressman Pete Sessions of Texas.
