From perjury to bribery, malfeasance to theft, the recent multiple counts against Councilwoman Holton, Developer Lipscomb and Mayor Dixon have nothing on the many crimes committed throughout this City, as well as in its Council chambers, for years. However one thing does stick out in these recent indictments, someone is SNITCHING!

The slogan, made famous by the now infamous and incarcerated crew from Baltimore, has been a rallying cry for justice, to those in the streets and an anti-violence campaign slogan for others. Some seem not understand the true meaning, or political philosophy; behind the reasoning of word usage or its history from the young men who exacerbated this slang. Now however, as we see those caught in scandal, individuals held to “higher standards”, the underlying criminal prosecutorial evidence, lies with the testimony of those involved in or aware of, the criminal act in question.

Do we, as a community or country, condone the “snitching” or “telling”, of those directly or indirectly involved, in order to save their own *ss? Has this Country gone so far out in left field, that they would actually teach their children that it is okay to get involved with crime but if you get caught, tell, tell, tell?! I hope not, and if we have make sure to let me know, so I won’t be anywhere around you or yours! However, beyond my rarely expressed opinion(s) in this matter, the facts still remain that this, America, is a democratic society, where people are, innocent until proven guilty, despite how many people come forward with bogus information.

12-counts against Madame Mayor, 4-5-counts against Helen Holton and 1-count against Mr. Lipscomb, who by the way was charged (with) Helen on Wednesday, how come no charges were filed against him today, in regards to these newest allegations of impropriety? Does he not warrant them in this case? Or has the first Indictment ensured his clearance in this one, the more serious one?! Many questions still remain to be answered, and charges need to be coo berated and proved, before rushing to judgment. We, as a city however, must move on and not allow this distraction to take us away from the real work, that needs to be done for this City and its faithful and hard-working residents’ and constituents!

Dale’s Daily Dose: “Win or lose, the job of a political representative, no matter what the title and how high you get, is the art of serving the people along with the Lord, without alienating either, with the distractions of money, greed and conceded disillusions of power!”
