The Country Music Association has announced the presenters and performers for their annual CMA Awards, to be held on Wednesday, November 11th.  They will be televised on ABC at 8PM EST.  CMT will be hosting a red carpet special at 7:00 PM EST and a CMA Awards recap after the awards.  The CMA Awards will reair on CMT on Friday, November 27 at  9:00 PM EST.

Performers will include some special duets that help make you wonder where the country music element of the awards went to.  Kid Rock will be singing a duet with Jamey Johnson.  Vince Gill will be performing with the rock band, Daughtry. Dave Matthews Band will join Kenny Chesney on stage for their current song.  You will also see Darius Rucker, known for singing with Hootie and the Blowfish, but has made a name for himself while making several number one hits in country music this year.  Is having performers from other genres a good thing?  It could be a good marketing move to bring in fans that never liked country music before, or it can backfire.  Country music has blended with rock and roll over the years and it is evident that pop has been intertwined with the music during recent years.  Elvis, Brenda Lee, Johnny Cash, and others have been popular in both country and in pop.  Olivia Newton-John and John Denver crossed over to country to win awards with some criticism and even Jessica Simpson and Miley Cyrus tried her hand with country music.
