Three North Dakota college students were found dead in a jeep that was pulled out of a pond.
The police have been searching for the students since Sunday night when their friends received a phone call from them. One was scratchy and the other was a woman asking for help and that they were near water. Authorities said they don't know at this time if they were underwater during the phone calls.
The three students were Krystin Gemar, 22 of San Diego; Afton Williamson, 20 of Lake Elsinore, Calif; and Ashley Neufeld, 21, of Brandon, Manitoba.
Searchers found vehicle tracks leading into the pond and an airplane saw oil on top of the water. The submerged vehicle was pulled from the pond a few hours later.
The 1997 Jeep Cherokee they were driving will be checked for mechanical problems or defects. At this time police do not know how they ended up in the pond.
