Today's economic situation can make it difficult to do a lot of things and that includes dining out. If you're looking for somewhere to take the grandchildren to eat that will be fun and low-cost, or sometimes even free, then check out these restaurant offers:

  1. Chick-fil-A at Virginia Center Marketplace offers a 4 piece nugget kid's meal free with an adult combo meal between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
  2. Every Monday is family night at Chick-fil-A in Short Pump Town Center too. From 5-7 p.m., kids receive a 4 count nugget meal with fries and a drink with each adult meal purchase (Limit 2), along with family-friendly activities.
  3. Most all Mexico restaurants offer half-price meals for kids on most days. Check with the closest one.
  4. On Wednesday, IHOP provides free kids meals from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
  5. Friendly's is definitely a kid/family friendly place to eat with 7 area locations in Chester, Colonial Heights, Midlothian, and Richmond. (www.friendlys.com for local addresses). Kids eat free with purchase of adult entree through January 16, 2010. Check paper and website for coupon.
  6. Wednesday is a good night to go out for a special dinner with grandchildren. Strawberry Street Cafe has free meals for kids with the purchase of adult meals after 5 p.m.

Be sure and check local listings for restaurants that offer 1/2 price or free kid's meals. It's a great way to get out and have some fun without spending a lot of money. And it definitely beats cleaning the kitchen.

For more information, visit each restaurant's website. If you have more kid friendly restaurants to share with grandparents and parents, please leave a comment.
