First, I heard a TV bit about Ted Danson discussing the terrible effects of overfishing around the world. Then I googled "Danson" and "overfishing," and found the MSNBC video, below, on MNN (Mother Nature Network). Next came the website of the film about overfishing that Danson narrated, "The End of the Line." Finally, a bit of site surfing--and there he was, big as life. Or death, in this case.

You must understand, I’ve seen this fish before. Actually, I’ve smelled him, or at least his ancient kin, because it was half a century ago. He, or perhaps she, was one of many helpless fish rotting at the edge of a polluted lake outside Fort Worth, TX, in 1958. The sight--and perhaps more to the point, the smell!--turned me into a "tree hugger" and a "piscatorial partisan" for the duration. I even wrote about the experience for my column in the Arizona City Independent/Edition last year.

It just makes sense to me: If we are to sustain human existence on the earth for very much longer, we must protect our fellow creatures with whom we share this beautiful planet. Anything less would be--is!--a crime.

Watch the videos; check to see if there will be a screening of the film, "The End of the Line," in your area; if not, ask your local theaters to get the film and show it; and check the website of Oceana.org for more information on how you can help save the fish, the planet, and the human race.

For more Info: Watch videos at "The End of the Line," and go to Oceana.org to learn what you can do to save the oceans and our fellow creatures who live within the waters around the world.
