Few dental offices in Williamsport and the Susquehanna Valley accept medical assistance patients, and dental care without insurance can be quite expensive. Going into the emergency room does not ensure dental coverage. Some places, like one Catholic Hospital in Williamsport take low income places, but there has not been a low income dental clinic in the Susquehanna Valley area for some time.
All that changed recently when the United Way reopened a Dental clinic in Sunbury that would take patients without insurance and with the Access card. Patients can call 286-7500 to make an appointment. Hospital emergency rooms do not always take care of dental work, especially if multiple teeth need to be pulled.
The dental clinic does not charge fees for its services, but it does welcome donations of money or the occasional contribution of supplies that allow it to offer continued service to the public.
