Charis is a Greek word that means "grace, gift, thankfulness."

It is also the name of one of the oldest feminist bookstores in the south - just celebrated their 34th birthday as a matter of fact.

Located at 1189 Euclid Avenue in the heart of Little Five Points, Charis Books and More specializes in diverse and unique children's books, feminist and cultural studies books and LGBT fiction and non-fiction. They will special order any book and offer a 10% discount on orders online (how's that for customer service?). There are also calendars, journals, t-shirts and, as the name suggests, more.

And the more is community involvement. Charis offers a diverse range of programs and events for a variety of interests. For instance, A Feminist Inauguration Day Gathering on Jan. 20 is in the works with a location to be announced. Writing with Intent on Jan. 26 is open to all writers of fiction and creative non-fiction. And the month of Jan. closes out with a wine-tasting celebration at Highland Bakery on Highland Avenue.

The atmosphere at Charis is warm and inviting with smiling faces and plush sofas to entice relaxation. Explore the world of feminism at Charis Books and More.
