If you're in the mood to check out some local musicians, Java Monkey is one of the places you can spot them.

Off the square for a few years now at 205 E. Ponce de Leon Avenue, Java Monkey is a coffee shop with flair.  Their coffee is organic, Fair Trade, and they also serve food, beer and wine.

One of the most interesting aspects of the shop is its patio where the musicians play. Not big names yet, but making names for themselves, musicians play in an intimate setting so you get the full effect of their talent.

For those who are writers looking for a place to show off their wares, Java Monkey also has open mic on Sunday nights at 8:00 p.m. Sign up is at 7:30 p.m.

Hours are weekdays 6:30 a.m. to midnight and weekends 7:30 a.m. to midnight.
