Works of the American radical activist, intellectual, and religious leader. William H. Scott (1848-1910) was one of the original 29 members of the Niagara Movement (the predecessor organization to the NAACP), a Baptist minister and a lifelong political activist. Born a slave, he escaped to Union troops in 1862 and served throughout the Civil War. After the war, Scott received an education and graduated from Wayland Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C., where he was active in both church and politics.
