TRH Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall have been working their way through an official visit to Canada this last week. Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper met with the royal couple in Ottawa and presented Prince Charles with Canadian Ranger uniforms for both his sons. The Prime Minister stated: "Your Highness, as you know we're very proud of our Rangers and our Rangers program, they are a great group of people who patrol our vast Arctic territory.” He then presented Prince Charles with red sweaters and caps and asked if Prince Charles would present them to Princes William and Harry's as a sign of honorary membership in the Arctic guard. To which Charles jokingly responded “I hope they fit,” Mrs. Harper then replied: “One size fits all.”
The Canadian Rangers are part-time reservists who are based outdoors and provide a military presence in the more remote areas of Canada. They were formed in 1947 and are often seen in their red hoodies and red hats. A spokesperson for the princes said: “Prince William and Prince Harry are very grateful to be made honorary Canadian Rangers, whom they admire enormously.” Here’s hoping we see those uniforms on someday soon.
