John Boyne, the Irish author of the worldwide bestselling Holocaust novel The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, has written a new novel. The publication date is set for March 16, 2010.
For his latest work, Boyne has delved into Russian history. The House of Special Purpose tells the story of the Romanovs, the last royal family to rule Russia before the Bolshevik Revolution in 1917. In his new novel, Boyne explores the events that led to the Revolution and the dethroning and eventual assassination of Tsar Nicholas and his family.
Boyne, who has become well-known for his historical novels, states that a fascination with Russia and the Romanov family led to the writing of his latest book. He wrote a great deal of The House of Special Purpose in St. Petersburg, Russia, and even wrote at the Winter Palace during his time in the city.
The House of Special Purpose is listed on Amazon.com, but no price is yet stated. Customers can sign up here to be notified when the book is officially listed on the site for sale.
Boyne’s most recent novel, Mutiny: A Novel of the Bounty, was published earlier this year.
