Weight loss cuts risk of eye disease

AMD is not only a computer chip company, it also stands for age-related macular degeneration.  This is the leading cause of severe vision loss among the elderly.  If more motivation was needed to maintain a healthy weight, add the reduction of developing AMD to the list.

In a recent Australian study it was found that a 3 percent or greater drop in waist-hip ratio, AMD odds fells significantly compared to people whose weight did not change.  The reduction in AMD risk was also greater for obese people who started the study.
