LOCAL MUSICIAN JOHN SPALDING REMEMBERED WITH BENEFIT CONCERT

SHOWBOX AT THE MARKET HOSTS MINUS THE BEAR, ROCKY VOTOLATO, THE CAVE SINGERS AND OTHERS ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 9TH; PROCEEDS TO BENEFIT THE JOHN D. SPALDING MEDICAL FUND

Seattle, WA– Showbox at the Market will host an all-ages concert in memory of local musician John Spalding, who recently passed away after a long battle with cancer, on Friday January 9th. The event will feature local favorites Minus The Bear, Rocky Votolato, The Cave Singers, Past Lives, Triumph of Lethargy Skinned Alive To Death and other special guests.

Local writer Chris Estey writes, “John Spalding… a truly astonishing underground Seattle musician and incredibly incandescent creative spirit… Former guitar player for late 90's punk band Ninety Pound Wuss and performance art/hard rock picadors Raft Of Dead Monkeys, John passed away from the cancer he was diagnosed with four years ago, shortly after marrying a lovely young woman named Jody… John was only thirty-three years old and leaves behind his wife, a deeply loving and proud mother, father, brother and sister, and loyal pooch Scooter. But he also leaves behind a legacy, both relational and musical, in the deep heart of Seattle.”

All ticket proceeds will benefit the John D. Spalding Medical Fund. Additional donations to the John D. Spalding Medical Fund can be made at all Bank of America locations.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at all Ticketmaster Retail Locations including Fred Meyer and G.I. Joe's, by calling 206.628.0888 or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
