Employee engagement: it helps to be helpful
Today we continue the 5 Tactics to make your Employee Engagement Strategy work!
Tactic 2: Be helpful.
Who says it's a manager's job to help employees? Who says it's not?
If your objective is to improve and increase your employees' level of engagement in their work, their job, their career, their department, and the company, you want to provide them as much help as possible.
Here are three specific ways to demonstrate your help:
- Strive for the best fits between an employee's skills and her specific functions.
- Help the employee understand what is expected at his specific job level and how that relates to the organization's Big Picture.
- Help your employees know how first-class service looks and feels so they'll know how engagement matters.
