Ryder joins Black Swan / AP

Winona Ryder, Vincent Cassel, and Barbarah Hershey have joined the cast of Black Swan, a supernatural thriller directed by Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler).

Already cast in the film are Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, who star as dancers in the New York City Ballet. According to /Film:

Natalie Portman stars as Nina, a veteran ballerina who finds herself locked in to a competitive showdown with a rival dancer named Lilly (played by Mila Kunis) “with the stakes and twists increasing as the dancers approach a big performance.” The big twist is that Portman’s character is not sure whether her rival is a supernatural apparition or if she is having delusions.

Ryder will play the role of Beth, a dancer reaching the end of her career; Cassel will play a sinister stage director; Hershey will take on the part of Portman's mother.

The script was written by John McLaughlin with edits by Aronofsky and Mark Heyman (The Wrestler).
