Pine to star as Jack Ryan (AP)

Chris Pine is in talks with Paramount Pictures to star as Jack Ryan, a CIA analyst created by novelist Tom Clancy.

Pine, who recently starred in 2009's franchise booster, Star Trek, would be taking the lead in the yet-untitled "Ryanverse" reboot. The character has been played by a variety of actors in the past, including Harrison Ford, Alec Baldwin, and, most recently, Ben Affleck. The script is still in development.

Pine is also in talks for another Paramount film to be directed by D.J. Caruso (Eagle Eye) entitled The Art of Making Money.
