President Barack Obama will be signing an anti-smoking bill. This will give the Food and Drug Administration authority to regulate tobacco in a way they never have had.

The law will let the FDA lessen the nicotine in tobacco products. They will be able to block labels that say low tar, etc. Tobacco companies also will have to cover their cartons with large graphic warnings rather than the small warning on the side of the packs from the Surgeon General.

Unfortunately this law will not allow the FDA to ban nicotine but it will be allowed  to regulate "what goes into tobacco products, make public the ingredients and prohibit marketing campaigns, especially those geared toward children."  Source: Associated Press

As you may know the President has struggled to quit smoking. You may see him with a toothpick in his mouth and his secret security people carry Nicotine gum with them at all times. So when you see Obama chewing gum don't think he is chewing Bubble Yum!

As a former Personal Trainer I truly believe one cannot be fit if you smoke. I don't mean just gym fit I mean healthy fit. You may be able to convince yourself that you are fit even if overweight but you can't convince yourself that you are fit if you smoke.
