Now Elizabeth Hasselbeck, 31, has written a book called The G Free Diet: A Gluten-free Survival Guide She claims that for 10 years she has been struggling with celiac disease. Celiac disease seems in my experience to becoming more widely spread as our bodies can't digest the junk we are putting in them.
Celiac is a digestive disease that damages the small intestine and interferes with absorption of nutrients from food. So those with celiac can't eat gluten which is in wheat, rye and barley and also in products such as vitamins and lip balms! Elisabeth Hasselbeck has strugged for 10 years with celiac disease.
Like many of you with autoimmune diseases it seems that Elizabeth went from doctor to doctor trying to find out what was wrong with her. She was tired, had diarrhea, and indigestion. At one point was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). She like many women were given meds for their "anxiety" or "depression."
After a stint in 2001 on Survivor: the Australian Outback where her diet was extremely limited she realized that her symptoms were gone.
