I have never suggested taking a hula hoop with you traveling. In fact you may want to read my article How to stay fit and healthy while traveling. Then I came upon some information about Fitness TravelHoops that come apart. They range in price but can be affordable and a great way to exercise. You'll get your heart and lungs racing while working your waist; do some arm movements and leg movements and you'll be all set. Marisa Tomei apparently "hooped" to get in shape for her role as an exotic dancer in The Wrestler.
Hoopnotica has created the Fitness Travel Hoop, which breaks down into six pieces that can be carried in an optional travel bag or with a special strap. The hoops are adult-size and have a stripe pattern in pink and gold or teal and silver. They're easy to assemble and almost as easy to take apart. You don't need to be particularly coordinated to use a hula hoop, just enthusiastic. It's fun and is as good for clearing your head as it is for toning your core. There is a lot of information around about the hula hoop (I remember them well.) and this round gizmo's comeback.
