Day 3 of Oprah's Best Life Week was based on Spirituality. You may want to ask me what spirituality has to do with fitness? My answer is "everything." I believe in the mind-body-spiritual connection. One example of this is I don't believe you can be fit if you are not living in the moment.
Oprah's guests talked about finding our spiritual paths. Oprah hoped the show would help us understand why we're here on earth.
Her guests were the Revered Ed Bacon who is the the rector of All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena, California. Reverend Bacon defines spirituality as a meaningful connection. He also believes that unconditional love is the essence of spirituality.
Elizabeth Lesser was another guest on Oprah. She is the co-founder of Omega Institute. If you haven't heard of the Omega Institute which is, America's largest adult holistic education center. I have for a long time wanted to head up to the Institute. I haven't as of yet. Lesser is also the author of Broken Open and A Seeker's Guide. Ms. Lesser believes that spirituality is within everyone's reach. Elizabeth says spirituality is our intuition that there is something greater to life than the daily grind.
The third spiritual teacher on the panel was the Reverend. Dr. Michael Beckwith. He is the founder and spiritual director of Agape International Spiritual Center in Los Angeles. He is a featured teacher in the film and book The Secret and is the author of Spiritual Liberation. The Reverend Dr. Beckwith says love, peace, harmony and wisdom are everlasting qualities. Regardless of the temporary problems you may be experiencing, Reverend. Dr. Beckwith says the connection to love, peace and harmony stays with you.
