My disclaimer: I have never read this book. The picture is of me on an eat clean diet before the book was written. Yes, eating clean works.
There is nothing new about The Eat Clean Diet except the very attractive Tosco Reno wrote a book called The Eat-Clean Diet. To make matters worse..... I mean more compelling... when you see her before and after pictures you'll want to get on the band wagon as well. I urge you to. I never looked better than when I was eating totally 100% clean. What that meant to me (and I had help from an expert) was no sodium, no sugar, nothing white. It was extreme. I couldn't chew gum, I could never cheat (and I never did for a long, long time because I saw results and I had a well-known person pushing me) and I drank a gallon a day of Crystal Light.
So what does Ms. Reno suggest? She suggests eating six meals a day, which I did. She suggests drinking a lot of water (Crystal Light was counted when I was eating clean.). She suggests not eating sugar and high fat foods (duh, as my 13-year old would say if I had one) and eat the food "that G-d gave us, not the "food" that humans created in laboratories."eatcleandiet.
Now if you don't want G-d in the picture you can do what the people at Kripalu say and do and that is to eat as close to the earth as possible. That means foods that are in season, not processed, and when you ask yourself how long it has been in the package you'll know.
Ms. Tosco of course and rightly so will have you working out asI did perhaps 5 to 6 days a week with the goal of building muscles. Muscles burn more calories than fat does so it makes sense.
If you want to save the money on the book, well I'm not saying I'm an expert or anything, but just come back and ask me questions. I've been there, done that with a former Mr. U.S.A. Thank you - you know who you are. I'm not sure I ever got a chance to thank you for all I learned from you.
Post Script
I am not bashing the very toned and lovely Tosco Reno. She has written a nice list of fitness books. It is important to note though that she is not the average person. The average person would not be writing this simple book on eating clean. The average person at 49 does not look the way she does. I give her all the credit in the world while noting that she is married to Robert Kennedy, 21 years older than she. If you are new to the world of fitness, I'll tell you who he is. Kennedy has been said to be the Hugh Hefner of the fitness world. Among others one of his magazines is Oxygen, which I have plugged on the right hand side of my screen because I like it. With about 50 publications under his belt he is no ordinary man and one wouldn't excpect his wife to be an ordinary woman.
