
Not everyone really realizes that if your metabolism isn't working then you will gain weight and/or not lose weight. That's one of the problems of those of us who are over 45. Our metabolism has slowed down. That is a biological reality. So we have to do something in order not to gain 10 pounds a year.
Diet and Fitness Expert, Dr. Melina Jampolis, talked about this dilemma to CNN.
She started by talking about the fact our metabolism does drop with age because of muscle losss and hormones. It does not drop; however, if we exercise. Our metabolism increases so it isn't all just about age. This increase with exercise is due to building muscle mass (Don't worry, women, we do not have testosterone thus you do not (I emphasize do not) have to worry about bulking up.
