On October 22, 2009 boston.com reported a story from The Boston Globe.
Long Ding, 21, from Beijing, China started playing football three years ago in China. It was a National Football League sponsored clinic. One year later he is at Dean College in Franklin, MA.
He is being recruited by Division 1 colleges - Bryant and the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.
Ding ran Dean's fitness center this past summer working out. He would then spend time on his kicking. His kicking leg is getting stronger thanks to what it seems would be a lot of squats!

Long Ding was lucky enough to meet Tom Malone, a former punter at the University of Southen California. Tom was working out while trying to get a job with the New England Patriots. Malone gave Ding some helpful tips.
Ding played rugby in China so he is not new to sports. He also played a bit of varsity hockey but likes to kick.
He is 6' 1" tall and weighs 210 pounds and has a grade point average of 3.57! His 7,000 mile journey is a fascinating one. His dad drives a truck and whose mother works as a nanny. The last time he was home was almost two years ago.
