The Ab Coaster is said to tone and build your abdominal muscles. Strengthening your ab muscles will also strengthen your back.
The maximum user weight is 300 pounds ( I’ve heard it said that it will hold 350 pounds. Still I wouldn’t push my luck.) It comes with a DVD showing workouts and measures about 48 inches tall by 25 inches wide by 60 inches long and weighs in the 65 pound range. It comes with a digital workout counter, which is very easy to use, and a one year warranty or 60 day warranty depending where you buy it. The Ab Coaster should run you no more than $400- but look around. .
The Ab Coaster works on an arc of steel. The really comfortable knee pad is contoured so my knees fell right into place on the pad. I also really liked the pad for my arms. From there I just moved my legs holding onto the arms so that my legs move down the arc and back up it making a natural crunch movement. I was careful to use my legs and not my arms to lift myself up. That's the only way I felt the crunch movement. It’s very easy to use and I found no strain on my back or neck.
The Ab Coaster can be used just like that in a straight arc motion. I also could easily adjust the seat to the side so I could work my obliques (The muscles on the sides of the body) or I could adjust it so I could go in all three directions.
The Ab Coaster comes with two 10-pound weight plates that can be put under the seat on pegs if you want more resistance.
There is no question this is a great machine. It is effective, easy to use, has very little to break down and comfortable. My only hesitation is the price.
