One of my favorite bars to go to in LA is Lola's on Fairfax - it's always pretty happening, chill, a great meeting place, and if you didn't know - it's actually a great place to eat! Lola's is a bar and a restaurant - and unlike most bars, the food here is pretty solid!

The best time to go is happy hour, which is between 5:30pm - 7:30pm, but the bar menu is served all night. For $5 martini specials (since Lola's is famous for their martinis) and $5.50 appetizer specials, it's a great time to try the best of what Lola's has to offer.
A couple of my favorite dishes to order are the calamari, chicken spring rolls, and the BBQ chicken pizza. The calamari is a huge dish - definately enough to share for a party of at least 2-4. The chicken spring rolls are solid - they come out cut in half with a spicy brown mustard sauce that really compliments the crispyness of the roll and the chicken inside. The pizza is a decent size - and although it's not the best pizza in the world, it's pretty strong in the fact that it's a decent size to share with another person for $9 (although I always wish they would put more chicken on it since they seem to skimp out a bit on the meat).
My favorite salads to order are the warm goat cheese with baby garden greens (comes with sundried tomatoes, pears, grilled asparagus) and the sesame crusted rare tuna (with cherry tomatoes, avocado, carrots, cucumbers and a ponzu sauce and yuzu vinaigrette). The salads are a good size (although they do run slightly high between $12 - $14 a plate). I love the goat cheese because they always have a decent amount of goat cheese and they always serve it warm so it's great to break and spread around. The ahi tuna is always very tender and they give you quite a bit of meat and avocado so it's a delicate yet appetizing dish.
One thing that Lola's never skimps out on is the truffle oil, which you can smell a mile away. I recently tried the penne "ratatouille" with white truffle infused marinara - and it was a great dish - it had a lot of grilled jumbo shrimp and perhaps slightly a little too much butter (the bottom of the plate was swarming in it), but I loved the truffle oil and it really combined the flavors together for both the taste and the smell. The steamed King salmon with sauteed sweet garlic shrimp is also a great dish infused with truffled-mushrooms. This is a meaty dish - with salmon, shrimp and potatoes - this will definately fill you up. The salmon is tender and really fresh - it's surprising for me because I don't associate good food with local bars (sorry) but Lolas really has surprised me, especially with their entrees.
In all, I really like coming to Lola's - both for the drinks and the food. Next time you're in the area, stop by to grab something to eat because you'll be pleasantly surprised. Most bars serve fried food but I appreciate Lola's because you can have a salad or a full entree and feel satisfied. However, the prices are a little steep (about $10 per drink and the entrees run around $20-$25), so it's not a place to go to all the time for those on a budget, but a great place to grab a famous martini and a good meal.
Final Thoughts:
Overall - Great food and you wouldn't even know it - the bar menu is my favorite for quick snacks but if you're in the mood for dinner, try the salmon or anything with truffle oil (it makes it that much better!)
Atmosphere - Great place to meet with friends although it can get a little noisy
