In the mood to try something new (and at the constant suggestion of my coworkers), I opted to try Bella Pita in Westwood.  Bella Pita offers healthy Mediterranean cuisine featuring pitas and wowshis (which are baked to order pitas).

Bella Pita is pretty small - you walk in and order your food and adorn your pita or wowshi with the salad bar to the side of the cash register.  Because of the constant heating of the pitas, it's pretty hot inside so you probably don't want to stay in there for too long.

Bella Pita offers many different pitas including falafel, lamb, steak, kabab, turkey or tuna.  The wowshis, which are pitas stuffed with savory fillings and baked to order, include the black bean, chicken, burger (ground beef, onions, herbs and spices), cheese (mozzarella, cheddar and monterey Jack) as well as the breakfast wowshi (which is an omelette with parsely, onions, black beans and cheese).

Each pita or wowshi ranges from $4.50 - $6.50 so this is an easy place to go that is light on the wallet.  The pitas are made pretty quickly so you can be in and out of there in about 5 minutes.

The salad bar is probably the best part because you can add extra toppings to your pita or wowshi.  Included in the salad bar is lettuce, tomatoes, onions, olives as well as different type of dressings from hummus to tzatziki.  For me - I'd order the wowshi because it is slightly bigger than the pita so you can definately have more room to fill up your pocket of food.

The meat is normally pretty good - tender and full of spices.  I like how Bella Pita fills up your pita with meat before they hand it to you for the salad bar - so be warned, you don't have much room to work with! The only thing I would suggest is that you eat with a fork because I have not mastered the art of eating a full wowshi.  My pitas fell apart pretty easily and with the dressing and other condiments - it can get pretty soggy and messy.  However, the pitas themselves are really thick, warm and soft.  The ingredients are fresh and because you can pick and choose the fillings, you can really make your pita or wowshi to your liking.

In all, it's a savory and filling meal and I'll definately go back for more.  For something on the go and cheap, stop by Bella Pita and try your wowshi today.

Final Thoughts:

Overall: Great concept and quick food - I love the salad bar so you can make your pita exactly the way you want it.

Atmosphere: Basically an instore stand - casual but it does get hot in there thanks to the ovens!

"mmmmm" factor (out of 5 m's): mmmm
