Michael Jackson’s “This is it” movie was spectacular! Stupendous! Spiritual. Michael cut up!...and he was just rehearsing. The dancers gave immediate praise to Michael, even standing ovations from time to time. Starting with the intensity, the respect, and the curious natured souls who just came by to say hello or goodbye to Michael Jackson. In talking with some folks who just saw the movie there were comments like “I wish I could see it again”. A twelve year old said Michael is the greatest! The kid related to “I’ll Be There” long before his time. From the glee in Michael eyes to his phenomenal performances to millions and millions of fans Michael Jackson was about love. Michael is most comfortable on the stage, where he is at his best. He is so masterful and warm to the people that he works with. Michael is so generous creatively. He really communicated and connected with everyone. He treated everyone like family. And that’s good.

In the beginning Michael was a master story teller as he sang well beyond his years. The gentle spirit of the once mannish young boy became the King of Pop. Michael touched us all with his music from “Who’s Lovin’ You” answer Michael, to he was a “Thriller”. From his signature stare he looked into our souls for goodness. “This is it!, typifies his life and as people we should realize “We Are the World” we are the people and “This is it” shows Michael Jackson’s commitment to excellence. “This is it” is an in dept look at MJ’s work ethic, focus and dedication to give us the love, the joy, to warm our hearts and give us hope for a brighter day thru song. But we have to live it, to know it…He spoke like a child and led the way to resolve and righteousness.

Yes Michael was “Bad” and a “Smooth Criminal” on the dance floor and no one worked harder at perfection and higher levels of excellence than Michael Jackson. Boy could he “Jam” and he sang “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough” as he had a party on stage for all to see. Every move, every turn, every look, motion and certain nuances are his moves. Michael is a natural dancer, so effortlessly making difficult moves with precision and zest. The haunting music of “Billie Jean” enthralled us all as Michael moonwalked into history though he did not in this movie rehearsal. He was saving that caveat for the show. As a dancer Michael was “Dangerous”, as he summons the ancestors for his next move. Michael’s voice is like velvet, passionate, yet can be gritty and soulful at any time. He is in complete control of all his body. He gives a great performance even in rehearsal. Michael’s pacing is his own.

His forty plus years of entertainment should be honored and appreciated. If we listened to Michael’s music we learned something. If you missed his music you missed an era of greatness, love and devotion. Michael Jackson’s life is chronicled by his songs and his deeds. He is truly a child of GOD in most beliefs. His accomplishments are second to none in this modern era. He strived for perfection even in rehearsal and expected the same from everyone else. He pushed the envelope all the time in such a gentle way.

“This is it” gave a glimpse into what he really was to us, a perfectionist, a world class performer and a humanitarian. Michael Jackson’s triumph was the “ultimate performance” and that he did time after time after time. Michael had a righteous spirit, yes we heard it in his voice and saw it with his deeds. Maybe someday a “Mountain of Music” like “Mount Rushmore” will be constructed certainly Elvis will be there as the “King of Rock N’ Roll”, Sinatra will be there as the King of the contemporary voice in Jazz and Michael Jackson will be there as the “King of Pop”. Can we be the “Man in the Mirror” and give him that honor? Or those that “Wanna be startin’ something” look for any reason not to honor his gift of music to the world. Or will the critics finally “Leave Me Alone” as Michael sang, even though he could have told them to “Beat it” and surely Michael could have been a carpenter since he nailed it every time he hit center stage in every performance. What a performer. What a man. What a father.

Do you “Remember the Time” when we first met Michael Jackson, a young boy who traveled the road less traveled for us. Being a major celebrity can sometimes be very challenging. He came to us as a gift and now he is gone. We must honor those special one’s while they are amongst us. Every life is special and precious and when Michael Jackson passed on…now we are celebrating his life? Even though he came “Off the Wall” sometimes he was quite often misunderstood. Some people may have thought of Michael as different, because he was out of this world, out of sight, but in the best way possible. Michael thanked his dancers, his technical crew, his Director and always, always said out loud he loved his dad Joseph, his mom Catherine and his brothers and sisters name by name and last and not least his children. In rehearsal he did that.

Michael Jackson’s gift to us was his music and his whirl wind life. Michael was the universe and the universe wants us to give or it will take from us, the laws of the universe. Michael was an ambassador for the world with his musical message. He loved the earth and all its grandeur (Earth Song). Everything seemed to be “Black & White” to Michael, though he embraced all cultures. He wanted to make it a better world, a better place for you and for me. He wanted to “Heal the World” with love on all levels. “Smile” because “This is it” is the beginning of a new era in time and eternity for Michael Jackson’s music and his spirit, spirit lives on. Thank you Michael Jackson, God Bless You and keep you well because “This is it!
