Micah Williams has achieved great success in the world of comedy. As a film and stand- up comedian Micah, aka Katt Williams, has achieved fame in big screen comedies such as “Friday after Next”, “First Sunday”, and “ Norbit”, and with his own well-received stand up performances on HBO and Comedy Central. But after much publicized “beefs” with other well known comedians and that crazy 2008 bathrobe incident in South Carolina, Williams is in trouble yet again. On Monday, Williams was arrested and charged with burglary and criminal trespassing in the home of producer/manager Barry Hankerson.
Hankerson was the manager of such performers as R. Kelly, The Winans, Aaliyah, and Toni Braxton, who sued Hankerson in 2007 alleging fraud, double dealing, and deception. Hankerson was previously married to singer Gladys Knight.
According to CNN, the police report filed in Coweta County, Ga., states that Williams broke into the home of Hankerson with a crow bar and stole $3,500 in jewelry and collectible coins. The report was made by Hankerson’s employee, Daniel Paul Broach.
Attorney William Briggs states Katt Williams was a guest in Hankerson’s home and had permission to stay indefinitely while filming a movie being produced by Hankerson. Briggs denied the allegations against Williams and stated “Mr. Williams wears more than that in jewelry on his person”.
On Monday afternoon, Hankerson assured investigators that Williams had his permission to stay in the home. Alan Clarke, an attorney who represented Williams in court stated “This is a misunderstanding which will work out quickly”.
Williams’ DVD, “It’s Pimpin’Pimpin”, is scheduled for release on Wednesday November 11.
