Let’s face it – November is a month for eating.  This year, Thanksgiving is flanked by restaurant weeks in two cities (Portsmouth, NH and Newport, RI), perfect for combining a B&B getaway with a pre-Thanksgiving feast.  Go ahead, indulge in a pre-Thanksgiving fine meal and a B&B nano-break sometime this month.  Portsmouth Restaurant Week features more than 35 restaurants. Logo featured on Greater Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce website. One caveat though: Restaurants will not accept discount cards or other offers during Restaurant Week. Reservations highly recommended - diners must contact the individual restaurant(s) of their choice.

Portsmouth Restaurant Week, November 8-15, 2009:   More than 35 restaurants in and around New Hampshire and Maine's seacoast will participate in Portsmouth Restaurant Week, featuring special 3-course prix fixe menus. Lunches are $16.95 per person and dinners are $29.95 per person (does not include beverages, taxes or gratuity).  Wine & dine, shop & gallery hop, visit the theatre, and make it a perfect B&B getaway.

Room 12 at the Three Chimney's Inn in Durham, NH is just one of the 23 inviting rooms offering a taste of yesterday and today. Photo from Three Chimneys Inn. Stay at the Three Chimneys Inn in nearby Durham, NH,  home to one of the restaurants participating in Restaurant Week, and take in a piece of colonial history to prepare for the Thanksgiving celebration.  You’ll stay in elegant accommodations where gas fireplaces, four poster canopied beds and Edwardian bed drapes, rich tapestries, and oriental rugs combine with  full baths with oversized and Jacuzzi tubs to offer a taste of yesteryear with comforts today’s travelers seek.  The inn’s restaurant “Maples" with it's four fireplaces and Georgian furnishings offers fine dining in a candlelight atmosphere. This is the perfect place to enjoy a priz fixe lunch or dinner during Portsmouth Restaurant week. The "Tavern" with its granite walls, fireplace and massive beamed ceilings provides a cozy spot for causal dining too, so take your pick with a Seacoast Restaurant Week break next weekend.

All the rooms at Admiral Fitzroy Inn include hand painted features. Walk to downtown Newport restaurants and shops from here. Admiral Fitzroy Inn photo. Newport Restaurant Week  continues through November 8, offering a host of events, special dining and prix fixe lunches at $16 per person and dinners at $30 per person.  Be sure to consult the Newport County Inns and B&B Association  to find packages offered in conjunction with Newport Restaurant Week or stay at the Lord Fitzroy Inn, right in downtown Newport, offering easy access on foot to many of Newport's finest restaurants and shops, plus a rooftop deck offering a birds eye view of Rockland Harbor.
