I've been following the work of Irish photographer George Munday for quite some time, with the hope of some day being able to attend one of his photography workshops. The closest I've come was last autumn, when George was conducting a photo seminar in the south of France at the same time I was in Paris.

I've just received an email from George about his plans for this year. Not surprisingly, given the state of the global economy, he is sticking closer to home, a guest house and studio in beautiful County Waterford, Ireland.  He writes, "I've had to opt out of the French workshops this year—it's very obvious that there's little money about and the general consensus is that folks will holiday in their own country. We've decided to concentrate on the B&B and the Irish workshops this year."

I'm hoping someday to manage a visit. In the meantime, I'm happy to exchange my fantasies of photographing in the south of France for dreams of scenic Waterford.
