The good news is that the United States remains No. 1 in the world when it comes to being competitive in the IT industry.
The bad news - at least if you're someone dependent on that industry - is there are threats to that advantage.
Those findings are part of an annual study sponsored by the Business Software Alliance.
The top threats to the U.S. lead? Tighter immigration policies, and lack of a solid broadband infrastructure.
The study looks at each nation's supply of skilled workers, its law protecting intellectual property, whether (and how strongly) its government supports technology, and the strength of its tech infrastructure.
There's another measure as well - how much does the government interfere in the market forces that drive tech innovation?
The study said Finland, Sweden, Canada, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Australia, Denmark, Singapore and Norway round out the top 10 behind the U.S.
