The "Alien Cartoon Style
Flash Memory" from
BudgetsGadgets.com is
available individually or
at a wholesale price.

A flash drive is a flash drive is a ... well, no, all flash drives are not created equal.

Sure, they'll store documents and photos and videos. But these days the look of the drive may be as important as what it does.

BudgetGadgets.com sent along a 4GB USB, and while at first glance we weren't quite sure which creature the USB is supposed to represent (OK - the Web site says it's an alien cartoon character, I think it's more like a space pirate - what's important is that my kids think the little person is really cool), what he (or she?) does is the key.

It captured our HD video flawlessly and played it back without a hitch. It quickly backed up documents. It worked seamlessly with three different laptops.

The Budgets Gadgets site has all manner of flash memory devices, from a lipstick holder to a crystal guitar pendant. For them, it's about fun and being competitive on price. And offering free shipping!

Their site also has a page devoted to special offers (the offers do have a shelf life, so they're constantly changing).

The company is based in China and ships worldwide. They're also on eBay, where they have a storefront.
