The Consumer Electronics Show seemingly gets bigger every year, with more companies participating and more products on display.

But the 2009 version, taking place Jan. 8-11 in Las Vegas, is taking a bit of a hit from the economy. Some companies are scaling back their presence, others have dropped out, and the floor space will be less than it's been each of the past two years.

Many of the hotels that house CES exhibitors and guests already have cut rates during the show, a nod to how Vegas is struggling to attract visitors as folks pare back their travel budgets.

I've been to the show before and I'll be there again, bringing Examiner.com readers regular updates about the latest gadgets and coolest gear being showcased at CES.

And maybe those taxi lines won't be quite as long this time around.
